Hello Jenny Revamped

Ok, so I think I’ve been on hiatus long enough. They say that you’re not a real blogger if you only update once a week..and well, you’re not a blogger at all if your posts are sporadically spread out within the year. I’ve been struggling with the focus of this fashion blog until recently—my fashion blog will be a “behind-the-scenes” documentation of my fashion ventures…as an aspiring fashion public relations specialist. So welcome to day 1.

The Nakate Project Anniversary

Check out my post on the Nakate anniversary event!

December has been an exciting month for celebrating birthdays, holidays, and the accomplishments we’ve set-out to succeed for the New Year. On Saturday, December 10, 2011 Nakate fashionably celebrated her 1-year anniversary.

The Nakate Project was started by Shanely Knox last December after her touching trip to Uganda.

“Nakate is an initiative working on the ground in a rural area of Uganda called the Nakasangola district,” Knox said. “Nakasangola is known for its poverty, its problem with AIDS, malaria and TB, witchcraft, drinking problems, polygamy, prostitution, and for its abuse of women and children.”

Stella & Dot

Stella and Dot Party

(by Jenny)

Article Consignment got glitzy for the beginning of the Christmas season with a recent Stella & Dot Trunk Show hosted on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at our very own boutique.

Jessica Horton, a local Stella & Dot independent stylist, sells and styles Stella & Dot jewelry pieces originally designed in New York and San Francisco.

Stella and Dot is a celebrity-coveted jewelry that has been seen in magazines such as Lucky and InStyle—and on celebrity’s wrists like Leighton Meester who sported the ‘Petra’ braided bracelet on a February 2011 episode of Gossip Girl. Anybody who is an avid watcher of the popular series is well-aware of the on-trends the show keeps up with, including the ‘Petra’ braided bracelet which is a rocker-inspired style for feeling sexy and fearless.

I love these turband head-wraps! I’ve always wanted to get them, but I don’t think the look can be pulled-off well unless you have long hair—and I don’t think it even looks that great on long, “straight” hair. It has to be worn with wavy hair for that fun and flowy hippie look. It’ll be another four to six months until my hair can live in perfect harmony with one of these head-wraps.

MIDNIGHT MASQUERADE//Fashion show faves

The first look is a styled piece from Legacy Boutique by Adrienne Deloatch and Gina Sanchez and the second look is designed by student designer Nikki Khotpanya.

TASSEL DRESS//from Messes of Dresses
I LOVE this look! When I went to Legacy they had a similar look. It had the same colors, but was a cropped top instead of a dress. Read Article’s New Arrivals & Trends for flapper-inspired looks.
